Trauma Informed Advocacy Workgroup

Over 10,000 Floridians advocate every day for the best interests of abused and neglected children – learning about who these children are, identifying needs they have, and being their steady advocate throughout a tumultuous, frightening time in their lives.  Every day, it also seems that new information and evidence is released showing us that these vulnerable children and the things they need to recover are closely tied to a common factor:  the trauma they have experienced. Through its Trauma Informed Advocacy Workgroup, the GAL Program will collect credible and relevant information on trauma, examine GAL practices and policy, and make recommendations to align the Program’s representation with what experts in child development and trauma have determined best serves children.
