A Note of Appreciation for Legal Advocacy At Its Best

“As you may know, although I’ve been a judge for ten years, I’ve presided in Dependency court for a mere three months. Consequently, I come with vast exposure to the caliber of lawyer practicing in Miami, but somewhat limited experience in the Juvenile Division.  It’s from that context that I wanted to take the occasion of my fast approaching retirement to send this letter of commendation about Jorge Tormes and Brian Roffman, two of the GAL staff attorneys assigned to my division.

Having once served as a GAL staff attorney myself in 2004,  I was impressed and gratified to see that two of the best lawyers in the court room with me every day were the GAL attorneys. Jorge and Brian knew the law better than most, never lost focus of their mission, had excellent demeanor and presence, and truly represented their clients well.  I felt it a pleasure and a privilege to work with such fine advocates and gentleman.

All the best to you and thank you for your service to the children of our community.”
