[Tallahassee, Florida] – Alan Abramowitz, Executive Director of the Statewide Guardian ad Litem (GAL) Program, announced today that The Women’s Council of Realtors Florida State Chapter collected “851” new suitcases/rolling bags to benefit the children in foster care that are represented by a Guardian ad Litem volunteer.
The Florida Guardian ad Litem Program’s mission is to advocate in court for the best interests of Florida’s children who are abused, abandoned or neglected. Florida is divided into twenty circuits. The Women’s Council of Realtors Florida State Chapter has thirty-four chapters Statewide. They teamed-up with our local circuits and their original goal was to collect “100” bags. “What started out as a small challenge in January, turned into a big impact in August. We are truly proud of the outpouring of support from our many members and their generosity. We look forward to a continued partnership with the Guardian Ad Litem,” said President of the Women’s Council of Realtors Florida State Chapter, Pamela Banks.
The Florida Guardian ad Litem Foundation relies on public-private partnerships, like the one with the Women’s Council of Realtors Florida State Chapter, to ensure that every child represented by the Florida Guardian ad Litem Program has a voice in court and that their essential needs are met.
When asked about the Women’s Council of Realtor’s Florida Chapter, Abramowitz stated, “We have so many people that want to make a difference in the lives of children, it is inspirational to see the Women’s Council of Realtor’s Florida Chapter step up and be there for abused children to meet their needs by ensuring they don’t have to carry their belongings in a trash bag. Not only did they exceed their goal of giving, but some have since become volunteer guardians to advocate for children. ”
The Women’s Council of Realtors is a network of successful Realtors, advancing women as professionals and leaders in business, the industry and the community that they serve.
